GEORGE GORDON NOEL LORD BYRON (1788-1824) -born in London -son of Captain John and a frugal heir -born with clubfoot, and he had to undergo painful treatments passim his childhood. -In 1798 he inherit the title Baron Byron from his great-uncle. -moved to London whither he was left a great estate. -went to Harrow school; -then enlightened at Cambridge University; was infamous for loose living; left the university without a degree. -published volume of poetry, Hours of loafing in 1807; attacked in The Edinburgh Review; this caused his satiric answer in the work English Bards and Scotch Reviewers. -took his induct in the dramaturgy of Lords, and then he started his long travel throughout europium (Lisbon, Spain, Malta and Greece) -in Greece began Childe Haroldes pilgrimage. -in 1810 traveled to Constantinople, visited the site of Troy, and he swam the Hallespont in personation of Leander. - in England in 1811 published cardinal cantos of Childe Harolds tour (childe- medieval boylike man who was a candidate for knighthood); (reflections of the young man, who is disillusioned with the life of pleasure, and he looks for mismanagement in miscellaneous countries); here he created the Byronic hero (intelligent, sophisticated, well-educated, attractive, sometimes he is distrustful and arrogant.) -published some other verse tales (Lara, The Bride of Abydos, etc) and the show of lyrical poesys Hebraical Melodies. -married a woman who was a mathematician; she left him only subsequently a year because of his scandal with his half sister Augusta. -ran remote to Europe in 1816, and decided never to return to England. -sailed up the Rhine River into Switzerland and then he settled at Geneva; here wrote the third part of Childe Harolds Pilgrimage (follows Harold from Belgium up the Rhine River to Switzerland).
